TORONTO, ON-On June 2, 2016, NAIITS will host its First Annual Elijah Harper Scholarship Fund reception at Tyndale University College and Seminary in Toronto. The honored guest will be Anita Harper, widow of Elijah Harper, who has given her blessing to the creation of this fund and this event.
"We are very pleased that Anita will be with us to inaugurate this as an annual event in Canada," stated Dr. Terry LeBlanc, Executive Director of Indigenous Pathways and co-founder of NAIITS. "We plan to do something similar in the U.S. in 2017. Hopefully this will develop a significant scholarship fund for NAIITS in both countries. Such a fund will enable us to help more students by alleviating some of their financial burden."
The reception will also be the kickoff to this year's NAIITS Symposium, which will also be held on the campus of Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. This year's theme is Education: Looking Behind, Seeing Ahead.
The symposium will run June 2 to 4. For more information about the NAIITS 2016 symposium, please go to http://www.naiits.com.
