I watched this year as the summer season morphed to fall. It happened quite abruptly as the September snow fell on the green leaves and grass of an ecosystem that wasn't quite ready for it! It looked like a battle between the trees trying desperately to stay alive and green, but the cold, white snow having none of that argument. Every party involved or watching knew who the ultimate winner would be. Hey, welcome to winter for a few months (before spring makes a comeback)!
Indian Life has had a better year than last year and it shows: WE’RE STILL PRINTING!! God has been good to us, and we have made some real headway in the old battle of survival. The issues we are facing haven't changed much though, and we still face some formidable obstacles. Let me share them with you,
• A changing world, where Internet is replacing the printed page (Oh, by the way, we have an online version of Indian Life also).
• Subscription Base that isn't growing (See Factor #1).
• Ever-increasing costs of print and postage.
• Our long-time practice of supplying FREE copies to places that aren't able to pay and we are not expecting payment from.
• Underutilization of Indian Life as a valuable ministry tool.
What that all adds up to is a situation where the incoming dollars don't match up to the expense dollars. ILM can survive for awhile in that scenario, but not long term. So, we are making some moves to change that. Here's what we are implementing;
• Adding one whole page (like four pages, actually) to the newspaper.
• Looking for commercial advertising to help offset expenses (like four pages, actually).
• Looking for non-government grants that would fit what we are doing.
I'm glad you're reading this! We need your prayers as we go forward into 2019. We’re looking forward to good things next year (Including the return of “The Council Speaks”) and you can be a part of what we’re doing! If you've been wondering where your year-end giving should go this year, here's a real good opportunity for you to invest some Kingdom dollars. Thank you so much for considering it!
God bless you,
