December 16–18
Chestermere, Man.—Back by popular demand, Indian Life Ministries will host “The Gift of Reconciliarion” on December 16–18 at Camp Chestermere, west of Calgary, Alb.
Beginning on Friday evening and ending on Sunday afternoon, the conference will help participants look at reconciliation on a personal level, evaluate their relationships with God and others, and answer the question “What does reconciliation mean for me?”
The conference will feature teaching by Mario Swampy, who has served as Pastor for the Louis Bull All Nations Church in Maskwacis Alberta since 2014, and on Band Council for the Samson Cree Nation since 2011. He believes these positions have given him a unique perspective on some of the challenges that exist when it comes to reconciliation both politically and at the church level between Indigenous people and those who are not. Mario believes that the body of Jesus Christ has an amazing opportunity right now to demonstrate true reconciliation in tangible and practical ways. First, as individuals, and then as collective bodies (churches, communities, workplaces) where courageous spaces can be created and maintained to have difficult conversations and where healing and true reconciliation becomes a possibility.
Ministry in music will be provided by Kene and Milly Jackson, who are from the Whitefish Lake Band of the Cree Nation and have been working in gospel music since 1981. With more than a dozen recordings under their belts, they enjoy singing, recording, touring and songwriting. Kene is also executive director of Native Evangelical Fellowship of Canada.
General tickets for the entire conference are $25. Deluxe tickets are $80 for the conference and include meals. On-site lodging is also available as well for $30 per night. For more information, see page 5 and visit our website at indianlife.org
