Stuck

Have you ever been stuck? Stuck on a school paper, or stuck in traffic, or maybe so emotionally involved with someone that you are stuck in terms of your feelings for them, even though these feelings may not be healthy for you?

When we are stuck, it is very easy to do or say something drastic out of desperation. After our actions, we may end up facing consequences that are far more difficult than being stuck!

I love the example of our Lord Jesus; He of course never had the problem of being stuck, but He certainly found himself in circumstances very similar to our circumstances-except He always acted or responded perfectly! His will was to do His Father's will! We can learn from His example. Even though we aren't perfect, we have a perfect God who is willing to guide us if we give ourselves to Him, if we surrender our situation and even our very lives to His will.

Scripture says that the Lord Jesus didn't give himself to humans. He knew what was in the heart of people (John 2:24).

Isn't this where our problem begins? The Bible says that our hearts are desperately wicked. Who can know our hearts? (Jeremiah 17:9) We are capable of such selfishness, that we don't even know-but God knows!

Maybe we give ourselves and people too much credit. If our focus is on pleasing them or on pleasing ourselves, we will get further and further away from God's perfect will, and this is exactly what has happened to each person.

God's Word says, "We all have sinned" (Romans 3:23). Maybe this is why you are stuck today. Might I encourage you to seek the Lord concerning the darkness that you find yourself in? The entrance of God's Word gives light for your soul (Psalm 119:130). Jesus Himself said, "I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).

Are you willing to give yourself to God and follow Him, instead of doing what is right in your own eyes or instead of following people? God is faithful and He really loves you! People, including you and me, are not faithful, and we fall short in our love, don't we?

If you know the Lord Jesus as your Savior, but you have gotten your eyes off His faithfulness and are stuck today, God is waiting for you to cry out to Him for help and say, "Lord, your will-not mine!"

If you have never had a time when you trusted the Lord Jesus as your Savior, then you are truly stuck; you are stuck in your sins! Nobody can pluck you out of the darkness of your sins and clean you up except the Savior.

The Lord Jesus Christ died for you so that you can be set free from the control of sin in your life, and from the judgment that you deserve. Would you cry out to Him and say, "Lord save me?"

May the words of the Psalmist be your words today: "He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along" (Psalm 40:2).

"If the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed!" (John 8:32)
