Indian Life Ministries launches Council Fire devotional book

LANGDON, Alb.-Indian Life Ministries is excited to announce that the Council Fire devotional book is now ready to be ordered. This is presumed to be the first 365-day devotional to be written exclusively by Indigenous followers of Jesus.

A year ago, staff at ILM began to dream of a daily devotional book created solely by Indigenous writers, and the vision for Council Fire was born. The dream was revealed at the 2022 ILM annual banquet and the staff began to pray for finances and authors to turn the book into reality.

As the vision has developed over the past year, ILM leaders tweaked the format of the book to better suit reader needs. The book was broken into three volumes to cover January to April (Vol. 1), May to August (Vol. 2), and September to December (Vol. 3). The ILM leaders noted that this will make the book more accessible for people to carry with them and will be more convenient for readers to share with others or to give as gifts.

Volume 1 of the book was released at the 2023 ILM annual banquet and the first copies were given to those attending the banquet.

"Stories shared around the fire are such a vital, entrenched part of Indigenous culture. Stories are passed down around the fire for teaching, for enlightenment, for encouragement," explained Todd Wawrzyniak of ILM. "We want the Lord to use these devotionals to enlighten, warm, and purify His people. The entries in the book are so good that we think readers will want to read them again and again."

This makes a perfect Christmas or year-end gift! To order your copies, see https://www.indianlife.org/store/.
