In September 2023, Indian Life Ministries was asked to head to North Battleford, Sask., and host a conference to encourage people. After significant time in prayer, we said yes, and felt as though we wanted to create safe space for people to share their stories. You see, we believe that being able to share your story is often times integral in your healing.
From this posture, the theme was born, Every Story Matters . . . Including Yours. We didn't think it would be dubbed a testimony conference, but that's absolutely what it was. It was a place for people to gather and share their stories publicly, encouraging others and offering hope to those who may be going through similar circumstances and feel as though things will never change.
During our time in North Battleford, a couple approached us and asked how this conference could come to their community. We smile and replied, "All you have to do is ask."
They asked, we prayed, and said yes. We knew we needed to nail down a date, so we asked if September would be a good time in 2024. They said no. October? No. November? No. April? No.
Well, here we are thinking that they surely don't want us to come in January . . . we know how cold it can be in the middle of January in northern Saskatchewan. When we asked when they wanted us to come, what did they say? January! Much to our surprise, we asked them why, and what they shared truly required no other answer but a firm yes.
"January is the month where we experience the highest rate of suicide in our community. This is when our people need the hope of the gospel the most!"
In January 2025, we are heading to Loon Lake SK to work with the local body of believers to host the Every Story Matters . . . Including Yours, testimony conference.
Kene and Milly Jackson, Kevin and Kim Elias, Leland Cardinal, and Carl Crane will share their gift of music, especially gospel music. Jason Jackson, and Tacsheana Fayyee Waponawasis, along with a few others, will share their powerful testimonies.
